BOO! -- There have always been more than two genders -- #happyhalloween #amreading #faithfullyLGBT

I wanted to put something scary on my blog this weekend for Halloween. Then I thought of my novel THEY, a biblical tale of secret genders published by Adelaide Books (New York; Lisbon). I am queer (and now a vegan) and write through that lens. I have multiple novels published on different topics. But for whatever reason, I have been harassed the most for my novel THEY.

Maybe it is obvious, but the harassment tells me THEY (though published in 2018) is still needed, perhaps now more than ever. Some of the harassment has been severe, and the latest harassment I received is the seemingly innocuous statement, " God created two genders--men and women."

Surprise!

This brief section of THEY is written about the intersex twins born by the narrator Tamar's sister. Enjoy it!

Pharez held out hir arms and started running in circles around the tent. "Look at me. I have WINGS and I'm going to fly high in the sky so that I can see God."

Pharez circled around a few more times and then collapsed from dizziness.

"I'm the goddess," said Pharez. "Except -- I'm better. I have a penis AND a vagina."

"I want to be the goddess," said Zerah, pouting.

"I want to be a goddess with a penis and breasts," said Pharez. "And when I grow up I want to marry a goddess."

"Of course, you can marry a goddess when you grow up," said Tamar. She felt like what she said should be the answer, even though it most likely wasn't the truth. "When you grow up, you can marry anyone you like."
