“We’re Here, We’re Queer, Get Used to It”

This is a widely used activism slogan that is attributed to the AIDS-action group ACT-UP, which began using it in 1990. The slogan came to mind since we are in the spooky season. I began to wonder why LGBTQ issues are and were so scary to seemingly many people. The answer to me was always that people who are homophobic are insecure. They haven't examined their own issues. As the saying goes, "It takes one to know one."

I'm no stranger to homophobia.

Of the books I've written, my novel THEY, a biblical tale of secret genders, has been harassed the most. I wonder why?

And still we persist.

The Lens of Eternity: Queer Lives from Two Pandemics, my hybrid memoir highlighting the life of noted photographer Berenice Abbott and her long-term partner, an art critic of note, was just published.
